The lad warmed up his sitar while I took the bulbul tarang for a test drive. The fellow behind us is an energetic Ghanan named Africa, who also can make a talking drum literally sing. Syracuse’s Westcott Cultural Festival is just amazing. There were Salsa, Celtic, African, Folk, and chants being performed at the same time, merging into a triumphant uber-jamm.

When I first heard Professor Zaidi on Bul Bul Tarang, the song Oonchi Oonchi duniya ki, It reminded me of my school days 1962-63, where with a small group of orchestra, I uses to touch their musical instruments when they were free. There once I still remember the song: Mera Joota Hai Japani,, which the only one first line I played on this instrument. I was desperately hunting to get this instrument and could not find it available in any music stores at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Banglore, or …
